Reports: Hawkins out as coach at Colorado

Multiple reports said Monday night that Dan Hawkins is out as Colorado University football coach.

An announcement is expected today that Hawkins will not be retained, according to the Boulder Daily Camera.

The Buffaloes are coming off a 52-45 collapse against Kansas University on Saturday in Lawrence. Colorado led, 45-17, in the fourth quarter.

Colorado is 3-6 overall and 0-5 in the Big 12 this season.

Hawkins is 19-39 in his fifth season in Boulder. He has a 10-27 conference record during that time. The Buffaloes haven’t won on the road in their past 16 games.

The Denver Post reported associate coach Brian Cabral would take over as interim head coach for CU’s final three games.

Colorado will play host to Iowa State at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
